Nestah

All of our students are extraordinary and have overcome a lot in their education journey. While we’d like to tell all of their stories, let’s start with some stories selected especially for you.

Nestah

High school

Nestah is a bright and articulate Grade 10 student at Starehe Boys’ Center in Kenya. He lives with his single mother, a casual laborer and the family’s sole provider. Nestah feels a deep responsibility at home, especially as he sees the challenges his 10-year-old sister with autism faces, having not yet attended school.

Academically, Nestah is a strong performer, earning 45 out of 56 points and placing him in the top 10 of a class of 40 students. He is committed to working both hard and smart, consistently striving to improve and make the most of every learning opportunity. His favorite goal at school is to become a class representative, reflecting his interest in leadership and in serving others.

Nestah is actively involved in many school clubs, including Chinese Club, Japanese Club, Innovation Club, Bookstorian Club, Red Cross Club, and the Presidential Awards Club. Through these activities, he develops his communication, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while broadening his global perspective.

Nestah aspires to become a software engineer, driven by his passion for technology and determination to create solutions for his community. With consistent support, he can focus fully on his studies, develop his talents in technology and leadership, and turn his ambition into a positive impact on his community and beyond.

About this Sponsorship

Sponsoring a secondary student is $1,020 a year, or $85 per month. Co-sponsoring a secondary student is $600 a year, or $50 per month. This amount covers the students’ tuition fees, and buys school supplies, uniforms, shoes, and other personal effects required to live at boarding school.

The Sponsor Experience

  • Cassie and Elijah

“When we signed up to sponsor our students, we hoped it would help improve their lives. What we didn’t expect was how it would change ours.

Our students have become our teachers about life, gratitude, optimism, and finding joy in each moment. Supporting an education is a direct investment into these students and their future. Through a sponsorship with Moja Tu, you have the opportunity to create a meaningful relationship with a student that will change not only their life, but yours as well.”
