At the heart of every thriving community is connection, and that’s exactly what our new peer mentorship program is building among our university students.
Recently launched, this initiative brings students together into two dedicated groups, one for young women and one for young men. While each group creates a safe and relatable space for shared experiences, the core goal remains the same: to empower students to learn from one another, grow together, and navigate university life with confidence and support.
University life can be exciting, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges. From academic pressure and career uncertainty to personal struggles and adjusting to independence, students often find themselves searching for guidance. Through our peer mentorship groups, they are discovering something powerful. They don’t have to go through it alone.
These sessions have quickly become a space where honest conversations happen. Students are opening up about their experiences, sharing challenges, and most importantly, working together to find solutions. Whether it is tackling difficult coursework, improving study habits, or navigating personal issues, the groups promote an environment of trust, collaboration, and encouragement.
What makes this program very impactful is its peer-to-peer nature. There is something uniquely powerful about learning from someone who understands your journey firsthand. Students are not only receiving support but also stepping into leadership roles, guiding discussions, offering advice, and uplifting one another. In the process, they are building confidence, communication skills, and a deeper sense of belonging.
Beyond academics, the groups are also becoming spaces for personal development. Students are exchanging practical skills, sharing opportunities, and motivating each other to stay focused on their goals. The result is a ripple effect of growth. When one student rises, they bring others along with them.
Already, the impact has been remarkable. Students are more engaged, more connected, and more empowered to take charge of their journeys. They are forming meaningful relationships that extend beyond the sessions and creating a support system that continues to strengthen over time.
As this program continues to grow, we are excited to see even more students step into this space of shared learning and mutual empowerment. Because when students support each other, incredible things happen.
Voices from Our Students
Hear directly from our students as they share how peer mentorship is shaping their journeys, strengthening their confidence, and creating a true sense of belonging.
“Being part of this peer mentorship group has shaped my experience as a student. It has given me a space where I feel supported, understood, and encouraged to grow. Through discussions and shared experiences, I’ve gained confidence, improved my communication, and learned to approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset.
Most importantly, it has reminded me that I’m not alone on this journey. During difficult moments, the group has kept me motivated and focused on my goals,” says Samuel, a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Analytical Chemistry.
“Being part of the girls’ peer group has been a transformative experience for me. It has created a safe space where I can openly share, learn from others, and grow in confidence. I’ve been able to express myself more freely, gain new perspectives, and develop stronger problem-solving skills.
It has not only helped me grow personally but also made me feel more connected, supported, and understood through every interaction,” says Wilkister, a second-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
What we are witnessing is the beginning of something powerful, a generation of students who are not only pursuing their own success but actively creating pathways for others. And at the heart of this transformation is something simple yet profound: the realization that no one has to do it alone. In these spaces, our students are finding understanding in one another, and that is where real growth begins.
