Every year, the Moja Tu organization arranges trips to Kenya for sponsors to deepen their understanding of the organization and spend time with the students they support. This year, the trip held special significance as some sponsors, such as Kathy and Leon, had the opportunity to visit Kenya and meet their sponsored students in person.
Kathy and Leon, husband and wife, have been sponsors for Moja Tu for some time, and this year they traveled to Kenya to meet their sponsored children. “For the past four years, my husband, Leon, and I have been supporting a talented student named Agnes. Additionally, during this trip, we had the privilege of meeting Miriam, whom we have sponsored for four months. This journey to Kenya marks our first visit to Africa, and we have truly cherished every moment spent with the Moja Tu team,” she radiantly expresses her joy.
Kathy’s and Leon’s journey to Kenya epitomized the power of personal connections. Through their visit, they gained a deeper understanding of the Moja Tu organization and formed lasting bonds with their sponsored students, Agnes and Miriam. The trip allowed them to witness firsthand the impact of their support and fostered a sense of gratitude for Kenya’s vibrant culture and people.
According to Kathy, some of the highlights of their journey included meeting the amazing Moja Tu staff in Kenya, visiting various schools, and exploring different parts of Kenya. “However, the true highlight of our trip has been the ten days we’ve had the pleasure of spending with Agnes and Miriam. Getting to know them on a deeper level, and sharing laughter and conversations, has been a gratifying and enriching experience. We are immensely grateful to Moja Tu for making this opportunity possible,” she shares.
Leon echoes Kathy’s sentiments. “Visiting Kenya had been a dream of ours for a long time. Engaging in countless Zoom calls with Agnes over the years had only intensified our desire to meet her in person. We kept saying, ‘We’ll try to come to Kenya,’ and our wish finally came true this year.”
Leon expresses his appreciation for the time spent with Agnes and Miriam, saying, “We were incredibly fortunate to share meaningful moments with Agnes and Miriam. It has been a genuinely special experience. Moving forward, our connection will be stronger when we have future video calls with them. We look forward to deepening our understanding of their lives while they learn more about us. Kenya, with its breathtaking beauty, is a country that truly captivates. But what truly stands out are its people—friendly, warm, and always smiling. We are filled with gratitude for Moja Tu and everyone who made this journey possible. Thank you.”
As Kathy and Leon departed, their hearts brimming with appreciation, they left a lasting impression on everyone involved, reminding us of the immense value in connecting across borders and making a difference in the lives of others.
