Grace’s story is not just about getting a degree. It is about figuring things out, taking chances, and growing into someone she once hoped to become. She joined the Moja Tu program in 2016 while still in high school. At the time, she was just like many students, full of potential but unsure of what the future would look like. Years later, in 2023, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture. That moment marked the beginning of something new, but not something easy.
Like many graduates, Grace did not walk into a perfect job right away. Her path was layered, sometimes uncertain, but always moving forward. She started out in a greenhouse as a crop scout, spending her days observing plants, identifying issues, and learning the science behind healthy crops. It was hands-on, sometimes demanding work, but it gave her something invaluable. Experience.
“That role taught me how to really understand crops, not just in theory, but in real life,” she says.
From there, she moved into a new space as a customer service agronomist at an agricultural lab and advisory company. This role pushed her in a different way. She was no longer just working with plants. She was working with people. Explaining, advising, and building relationships.
After a year and a half, she made another bold move into sales within the same company. It was a step outside her comfort zone, but one that helped her grow even more. “I’ve learned that growth happens when you try things that scare you a little,” Grace shares. “Every step taught me something new.”
What makes Grace stand out is not just what she has done but how she sees her work. “There’s a lot of science in crops that people do not know about,” she explains.
To her, agriculture is not just a field. It is a space full of opportunity, innovation, and impact. Today, her work is dynamic and fast-paced. She supports sales, works closely with clients, and coordinates across teams to ensure quality service. It is the kind of environment where no two days are the same, and that is exactly what she enjoys.
“I love being busy and solving problems,” she says. “It makes me feel like I’m actually making a difference.”
Beyond her career, Grace’s growth has been deeply personal. Her job has given her stability, independence, and the ability to support her family. That, for her, is one of her proudest achievements.
But her story has not been without moments of doubt. After graduation, there were times she questioned whether things would fall into place. Whether she was on the right path. Whether she was doing enough. Slowly, through patience and persistence, clarity came.
Her message to students and recent graduates is simple and honest. “It might take time, but it will be okay. You are already moving in the right direction.”
She also believes that agriculture holds far more opportunities than many people realize. There is space to grow, to innovate, and to build meaningful careers. Grace’s story is not about instant success. It is about steady progress. It is about saying yes to opportunities, even when they feel uncertain. It is about choosing growth, again and again.
From a high school student supported by Moja Tu to a young professional finding her footing in agriculture, Grace is building a life of purpose, one step at a time.
