Doris is a first-year student at Zetech University. She recently completed her communication and media studies diploma, focusing on public relations. The determined young lady is now pursuing her bachelor’s degree in media and digital communication. What makes her journey even more remarkable is the unwavering support she receives from her sponsor, Paula Juba, and her determination to scale educational heights.
“My connection with Moja Tu traces back to 2012 when I was living at Tania Children’s Home. We received news that kindhearted individuals were to install a borehole at the home. Then, we were really struggling with access to clean and reliable water. Little did I know that this event would mark the beginning of a life-changing relationship with Moja Tu,” she shares nostalgically.
During that pivotal moment in 2012, Doris crossed paths with Kathy Kempff, the Founder and President of Moja Tu. From that moment onward, Moja Tu became a beacon of hope, supporting Doris’s education journey, starting from high school in 2013. Later, Paula Juba stepped in as a sponsor, generously covering Doris’s expenses for her higher education.
“My experience with Moja Tu goes beyond financial support. The organization is one huge family, a support system that goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. Through Moja Tu, I gained access to education and a new family that has played a pivotal role in shaping my life,” she says.
One of the unique aspects of Doris’s journey with Moja Tu is her exposure to sign language. The organization recognizes the importance of inclusivity, and Doris had the opportunity to learn sign language, fostering a deeper connection with a diverse community. Now, she serves as an interpreter for the organization, and she is seeking opportunities to put this skill to better use.
Beyond academics, Doris’s time with Moja Tu has been a catalyst for personal growth. Her self-esteem has soared, and she attributes this positive transformation to the continuous support and encouragement she receives from the organization.
“As I navigate university, I remain deeply grateful to Moja Tu and my sponsor, Paula Juba. Their endless commitment and support have opened doors to education and created a foundation for a brighter future,” she concludes.
Doris’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education and the impact of organizations like Moja Tu. Through the collaboration of generous sponsors and dedicated individuals, dreams are nurtured, and futures are shaped, one student at a time.
