Meet Aineah, the firstborn of a family of two siblings. He recently completed his high school education and is now a freshman at one of the leading universities in Kenya. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a dream that he has had since he was young.
Aineah’s journey with Moja Tu started when he applied to be part of the program after finishing primary school. He says, “I vividly remember when I applied to be part of the program. I was nervous and a bit scared. I needed the help to continue with my education because I knew, with my background, I wouldn’t be able to be in school fully, and at some point, I was going to let go of it.”
He was overjoyed when he got accepted into the program and received a sponsor who supported his education. “But I got lucky enough to join,” he happily says. “Moja Tu has been the best thing that happened to me.”
With Moja Tu’s support and Aineah’s sponsors, he was able to join high school and do outstandingly well throughout his time in school. Undoubtedly, he performed exceptionally well in the highly competitive high school exit examinations. With his good grades, he could pursue his dream career in nursing. “Completing high school was a milestone for me. I never imagined I would even be able to join high school, so when I got the chance, I put my best foot forward and worked hard,” he exclaims.
Aineah talks of his experience on campus so far, and although it’s a bit challenging, he acknowledges the presence of other Moja Tu students in the same university he is in and the presence of the mentorship program, which is giving him an easy transition to the new phase in life.
He says, “I have met some amazing people here and am learning a lot from them. The mentors are also beneficial and supportive. They guide me on how to balance my studies and other aspects of life.”
Aineah is also a talented rapper and enjoys making music in his free time. He says, “Music is my passion and way of expressing myself. I have been writing songs since I was in high school, and I love performing them to my friends and family.” He adds, “I received my first genuine applause from my Moja Tu family. Moja Tu has supported my life’s little things and achievements, and it feels nice to be appreciated. I have made several songs and come to the next sponsor visit, and I have a special presentation for our lovely sponsors.”
Aineah is grateful for the opportunity that Moja Tu has given him and hopes to make the most of it. “Moja Tu has changed my life for the better. I have a bright future ahead of me, and I want to impact the world positively. I thank my sponsors and everyone who has been part of my journey. You are my heroes,” he concludes.
