Faith’s Triumph: From Adversity to University

February 20, 2024

Faith Mueni, one of our recent high school graduates, is a testament of unwavering determination and triumph over adversity. A young woman of remarkable intelligence, resilience, and drive, Faith has defied the odds to secure a bright future for herself and uplift her family and community.

Faith joined Moja Tu in 2020 after being recommended by her primary school’s head teacher for her outstanding academic performance. Coming from a family of day laborers, the financial challenges at home made it impossible for her to afford high school. Moja Tu became her pivotal support, sponsoring her to pursue her high school education.

“I was very happy to get a sponsorship from Moja Tu. I knew this was a stepping stone to achieving my dreams,” Faith recalls excitedly.

Throughout her high school years, Faith consistently maintained high grades. Her triumph in the high school exit exam (KCSE), where she secured an impressive B+, solidified her status as one of the top-performing girls in Moja Tu, a source of immense pride for the organization.

Faith is now excited to join the university to pursue a civil engineering course inspired by her sponsor, Scott. However, Faith’s aspirations extend beyond personal success. She envisions leveraging her education to support children in her community, providing them opportunities to uplift their families.

“My aspiration to pursue this course comes from my sponsor, Scott, a civil engineer. And to also be able to uplift my family and community,” she shares, emphasizing her desire to impact those around her positively.

Beyond her academic prowess, Faith is a natural leader. Her punctuality, both in studies and responsibilities, earned her the position of a prefect for timekeeping—an attribute she credits for playing a significant role in her academic success.

As Faith stands on the cusp of a new chapter, eager to embark on her university journey in civil engineering, her gratitude to her sponsors, Stacie and Scott, echoes loudly. “I would like to thank my sponsors for making my dreams a reality,” she concludes.

As Faith steps towards the university, we eagerly anticipate the unfolding of a future where her aspirations blossom into reality, leaving an indelible mark on her life, family, and community.
