Beats of Success: Aineah’s Story

October 10, 2024

International Music Day honors the universal language of music, celebrating its power to inspire, heal, and bring people together. This year, we are proud to shine the spotlight on one of Moja Tu’s talented students, Aineah, a second-year nursing and public health student at Kenyatta University whose journey as a rapper is both exciting and inspiring.

Aineah’s story began when he discovered his love for music while in his second year of high school. Inspired by local Kenyan artist, Khaligraph Jones, whose lyrical flow captivated him, Aineah began his musical journey by performing covers before gaining the confidence to write his own songs. “I composed a class song called “Watu wa North” since I was in North (high school),” Aineah recalls. “My classmates love it, which encouraged me to compose additional songs.”

Balancing academic studies with a music career has not been a challenge for Aineah; he has found a rhythm that works. “During the weekends, I focus on composing music, and on weekdays, I focus on classes and my studies.” His dedication to both his dream and his education is a testament to his discipline and drive. Aineah’s sponsors were initially concerned that music might interfere with his education, but they soon realized that Aineah has excelled at both. “They appreciate my musical ability and encourage me to continue. They’re really happy about it,” he shares with a smile.

One of the most significant turning points in Aineah’s musical journey was the support he received from Moja Tu. “Moja Tu has really supported my musical dream by giving me a platform to perform at major meetings. It helps me engage and inspire people and get my music out there for people to hear,” he says. The opportunity to perform has not only helped Aineah grow as an artist but has also allowed him to connect with a larger audience. He hopes to use his music to inspire others, particularly young artists who share his dream. “I would like to be a role model to some upcoming artists with talent similar to mine. I’ll try my best to inspire them through my music.”

For Aineah, music is more than just a creative outlet; it’s a form of expression that brings clarity and peace. “Music helps me express the ideas in my brain to those around me, especially when I perform in competitions. It’s really a nice experience.” He also believes that music plays a critical role in society. “On International Music Day, I would like people to remember that music is essential to our society with its ability to provide powerful messages.”

The initial spark that ignited his passion for rap and lead Aineah to perform for his classmates, eventually allowed him to become an award-winning rapper at Kenyatta University. Now, with an award to his name, he continues to set his sights on greater achievements. His journey is far from over, but one thing is certain: Aineah is a rising star with a powerful voice and he uses his talent to inspire and uplift those around him.

As we celebrate International Music Day, Aineah’s journey reminds us of the profound impact music can have on our lives. His passion and dedication prove it is possible for people to chase their dreams but still stay committed to their goals. Music is more than entertainment—it’s a powerful tool for self-expression and inspiration. We’re excited to see where Aineah’s talent takes him and how his music will continue to inspire others.
