In a world where the youth hold the key to the future, World Youth Skills Day sheds light on the significance of equipping young individuals with the necessary skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and prosperous life. By investing in young people’s education, we pave the way for innovation, resilience, and positive change.

We spoke with three students – Nasalin, William, and Felister – who exemplify the transformative power of education. Their stories showcase the profound impact of quality education in unlocking potential.

Nasalin

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

Nasalin, a first-year student at Multimedia University, believes that young people need to be equipped with skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Drawing from her experience, she says that getting a quality education has been a transformative journey that has instilled confidence, problem-solving abilities, a sense of stability, and hope in her.

Being able to pursue higher education has been life-changing for Nasalin. Her studies have taught her valuable financial management, organization, and time management skills.

“These skills are shaping me to become a responsible and independent adult,” she shares.

Nasalin’s aspirations extend beyond personal success. She aims to complete her university education, secure a good job, and inspire the younger generation. She desires to give back to her community by supporting local businesses and artists, mentoring young girls, and offering guidance and counseling to vulnerable members.

William

William, a first-year student at Kenyatta University, views education as a force that propels him toward his dreams and imparts knowledge that will shape his path. Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, he envisions a future where he becomes a recognized voice in environmental conservation.

He is developing crucial skills at university, such as critical thinking, creative thinking, and effective communication. These skills enable him to plan and execute his ideas effectively.

He aspires to make a name for himself in the environmental protection field and become a respected advocate for sustainable practices. He also aims to uplift his family and community, breaking the cycle of poverty and positively impacting his community through his knowledge.
