Student Success Stories

Natasha
At just 22 years old, Natasha Wanjiru is already charting a course toward success—armed with resilience, purpose, and the unwavering support of Moja Tu.
Growing up in Naivasha with her single mother and two sisters, Natasha’s dream of higher education once felt uncertain. “The main challenge was lack of school fees,” she recalls. “Until Moja Tu sponsored me, my education journey was full of uncertainty. But from then on, it has been smooth.”

Natasha first encountered Moja Tu while in Mirera Primary School, when the organization came looking to sponsor deserving students. “When Moja Tu chose me, I was so excited,” she shares. “It gave me a sense of belonging, knowing someone out there cares about my well-being.”
Now a third-year Bachelor of Commerce student at Kenyatta University, Natasha is thriving both academically and personally. “Being part of Moja Tu has challenged me to work hard and make my sponsors, family, and myself proud,” she says. “I’ve grown into a responsible person with emotional intelligence.”
Her academic interests lie in the world of business. “I chose commerce because I have a passion for it—and I love that it will give me a platform to travel the world,” she adds. Thanks to her program, Natasha has already gained valuable financial and accounting skills—skills she’s now putting into practice at Enashipai Resort, one of Kenya’s top hospitality destinations.
“I’m currently doing my attachment in the finance department,” she explains. “I’ve learned a lot of business-related skills, and the experience is giving me great exposure to the real business world.”
Her opportunity at Enashipai was made possible through her former sponsor, Elizabeth Wanjeri, who is also a Moja Tu sponsor. “She gave me the opportunity to work here, and I’m so grateful,” Natasha says. One of her favorite moments during the internship? “The Heritage Day every Friday where all the staff participate in fun games. It’s been an amazing way to bond with the team.”
Looking to the future, Natasha is focused and driven. “My goal is to work in big companies as a financial accountant,” she says. “And five years from now, I see myself as a known business owner.”
To other students who may be struggling, Natasha offers heartfelt encouragement:
“There is always hope, so long as you don’t give up on your dreams.”
Natasha’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education, opportunity, and belief.
