Meet Faith

Meet Faith Mwelu, a recent Form Four graduate and proud Moja Tu student who is preparing to take her next big step: joining Murang’a University of Technology to pursue a degree in nursing. Her journey is one of resilience, purposeful ambition, and a deep desire to serve others.

Faith’s passion for healthcare didn’t come from outside influence. It came from within. “I’ve always wanted to make a difference in people’s lives,” she says. “When a fellow student fell seriously ill and didn’t receive the care they needed, I knew I wanted to be someone who gives care, attention, and compassion where it’s needed most.”

In high school, Faith gravitated toward the sciences, focusing on English, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Though Mathematics was a challenge, she compensated by doubling down on Physics, which is an essential subject for her chosen field. “I wasn’t strong in Math, so I worked harder in Physics, knowing it could also qualify me for the course,” she shares.

But like many students, the road wasn’t without its obstacles. Some of the universities she had hoped to attend required higher cluster points than she had. Still, Faith never gave up. Her outlook remained grounded and optimistic. “It’s not about where you study. What matters most is how committed you are to becoming the best version of yourself.”

Through it all, Moja Tu has walked alongside her, offering not just financial support but a community that believed in her even during moments of doubt. Now, as she prepares to enter university, Faith is focused on her long-term goals.

“In the next five years, I see myself working in a hospital, helping patients with care, kindness, and skill,” she says. “I want to give back to my community by providing quality healthcare and ensuring people live healthy, fulfilling lives.”

Faith is especially passionate about encouraging other young students to consider nursing, particularly those in Form Four who might be unsure of their path. Her advice is both practical and heartfelt: “Focus on your science subjects, especially Biology and Chemistry. Nursing is a rewarding profession, and with the growing need for healthcare workers, numerous opportunities lie ahead. Stay determined, believe in yourself, and follow your passion as it will lead you to your purpose.”

Faith’s journey reminds us that purpose often begins with a moment of compassion and, with the right support, it can grow into a future of meaningful impact.
