Quality Education for Sustainable Future

July 17, 2023

The Moja Tu program goes beyond producing graduates and proudly sending them into the job market. It nurtures responsible individuals who have been shaped through the pillars of quality education, mentorship, and support. We are delighted to share that our efforts align with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1 – no poverty – and SDG 4 – quality education. Today, we caught up with two exceptional graduates from the class of 2023 to gain insights into their experiences and achievements.

“I come from a humble background, and education seemed like a distant dream,” shares David, one of the graduates. “But Moja Tu stepped in and sponsored my education, helping break the barriers that held me back.”

David highlights the value of mentorship sessions, which equipped him with the skills to confidently write a high-quality resume and face job interviews. “This valuable lesson gained through mentorship has made a significant difference,” he happily adds.

The impact of Moja Tu’s support extends beyond academic guidance. The counseling and mentorship provided have significantly influenced the graduates’ overall well-being. “Moja Tu understands that education encompasses more than just academics. While in school, I joined the softball team and had the privilege of representing the country in World Cup qualifiers. This moment will forever remain unforgettable,” says David, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science.

Maria, a communication and media studies graduate, expresses how Moja Tu has transformed her life since joining the program.

“Five years ago, I had lost all hope of attending university and even dropped out at one point. But Moja Tu has been the best thing that ever happened to me. Graduating now fulfills all my dreams!” Maria exclaims.

She acknowledges that being a Moja Tu beneficiary will continue to benefit her in her future endeavors. She gained lifelong friends who became family and found mentors and role models she had never had before.

The graduates unanimously agree on the profound impact of Moja Tu’s support in shaping their transition from education to the workforce. Maria elaborates, “Through their counseling and mentorship, Moja Tu guided us in exploring career opportunities, understanding the job market, and making informed decisions about our future. Working with Moja Tu Marketing, I discovered my passion for marketing and communications.”

Moja Tu’s efforts align with SDG 4: Quality Education, preparing graduates to make meaningful societal contributions.

David expresses his love and gratitude to his sponsor, Khawaja Shaws, for his constant support and belief in his potential, even for accepting him as a son. Maria also appreciates her sponsor, Brenda, for guiding and supporting her throughout her journey.

As we bid farewell to these inspiring graduates, we are reminded of the power of education in shaping the lives of our students, making their dreams come true, and fostering a brighter future. The impact of Moja Tu’s support echoes through the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting education, poverty alleviation, and personal growth.
