Meet Anastacia, a passionate and ambitious young lady pursuing a unique career path in both law and software development. The global dependency on the internet inspired her to add skills in user interface design alongside her law education. She saw the potential to blend her legal knowledge with technical skills to make a meaningful impact in the digital world.
Currently, she is at Azubi Africa studying front-end, user experience design. She’s acquiring essential skills that will empower her to create interactive and user-friendly web applications.
In addition to the technology side of her education, Anastacia’s motivation to study law is based on the desire to one day become a judge with the goal of ensuring fairness and integrity in the Kenyan justice system. “The most rewarding experience in my law education has been the opportunity to interact with great minds and participate in mooting, engaging with knowledgeable professors, experienced law practitioners and my fellow passionate students who have enriched my understanding of legal concepts,” she explains.
As part of her studies, Anastacia participates in simulated court proceedings that allow student teams to present their oral arguments on an assigned legal topic before a ‘judge’. These moot court competitions have allowed her to develop advocacy skills, think critically and argue cases in an effective manner. The experience has not only significantly boosted her confidence but also provided her with invaluable insights into the practical aspects of law.
As a dual-path student, one of Anastacia’s achievements was securing an internship at CodSoft. Here she was able to apply both her technical and legal skills gaining invaluable practical experience on how these dual career paths can work in harmony.
Balancing both courses and other activities requires meticulous time management. “I use a planner to organize my tasks, allocating time for each activity, which helps me stay on top of responsibilities, meet deadlines, and maintain a healthy balance.”
She believes that her education in both law and technology will equip her with a unique blend of analytical and technical skills attractive to many potential employers. “This combination allows me to approach problems from different perspectives and prepares me for diverse career opportunities in both fields,” she says.
