Education has the power to transform lives, and Gloria’s story is a shining example of how opportunity and support can pave the way for success. As one of the top-performing students in her cohort, she recently achieved an incredible A- in the university entry exams, securing her place at the university. But behind this remarkable achievement lies a journey filled with challenges, resilience, and hope.
Gloria’s early life was marked by uncertainty. After her parents separated, she was left in the care of her grandmother, who struggled to support her education. With no clear path forward, her future seemed uncertain. However, fate intervened in the form of a compassionate local leader, who placed her at the Sons of Manasseh Children’s Home. It was there that Gloria’s life took a turn for the better—she was introduced to Moja Tu, an organization that stepped in to sponsor her education and give her a fresh start.
Navigating High School: A Journey of Highs and Lows
High school was a mix of joy and struggle. Gloria recalls moments of laughter and strong friendships but also periods of self-doubt and disappointment, especially when her grades didn’t meet her expectations. However, she found solace and motivation in subjects like Chemistry and Mathematics, which she loved for their complexity and intellectual challenge.
“As I neared the end of my high school journey, I felt a whirlwind of emotions,” she shares. “Completing four years of hard work was exciting, yet saying goodbye to my friends and teachers was bittersweet.”
Unlike many students who constantly worry about school fees and resources, Gloria had the unwavering support of Moja Tu, which covered her tuition, school supplies, and even psychosocial support. This support gave her the freedom to focus on her studies, ultimately helping her achieve the outstanding grades she is so proud of today.
Gloria’s dream is to become a doctor, a career where she can serve her community without discrimination. She is deeply inspired by the work of medical professionals who dedicate their lives to saving others, and she envisions herself in a role where she can make a difference—especially in underserved and remote areas.
“I want to provide free medical camps and ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to healthcare,” she says. “Everyone deserves access to quality medical care, regardless of their circumstances.”
Looking back, Gloria is overwhelmed with gratitude for Moja Tu and her sponsor, who gave her the gift of education. Their kindness and belief in her potential gave her the confidence to excel, and she is determined to pay it forward in the future.
“I will forever be grateful and will never forget your hearts of gold and your generosity,” she says.
Her story is a powerful reminder that a little support can change a life, and that life, in turn, can change the world.
