In April, Moja Tu embarked on an unforgettable 11-day journey across Kenya with a group of our dedicated sponsors. This trip wasn’t just a chance to explore Kenya’s beauty—it was a powerful opportunity for sponsors to connect face-to-face with the students they support and witness firsthand the impact of their commitment.

Our journey took us through Nairobi, Makueni, Naivasha, and Laikipia, where we visited students, families, and communities who are part of the Moja Tu family. We held heartfelt meetings with parents and guardians, creating space for open dialogue about each student’s progress and challenges. These conversations reaffirmed how vital it is to build not only academic success but also strong community support systems around our students.
During the trip, we also conducted interviews with students seeking sponsorship—bright, eager minds full of potential just waiting for someone to believe in them. It was inspiring to see their determination and hope.
We honored excellence by recognizing our best-performing high school students with rewards to celebrate their hard work and inspire others. In addition, we distributed revision books to all high school students to help them prepare more effectively for their national exams.

For sponsors who support individual students, one of the most touching moments was visiting their students’ homes. These visits provided deeper insight into the students’ lives and allowed sponsors to experience the warmth and hospitality of Kenyan families. The emotional connections formed during these home visits were truly moving.
A standout highlight was our visit to Zawadi Yetu, a school founded by Nelly Cheboi—the 2022 CNN Hero of the Year and founder of Techlit Africa. This innovative school provides digital skills training to students in rural communities, opening up a world of opportunity. We were amazed to see young children confidently touch typing, coding, and even animating—all thanks to access to technology and quality instruction. Moja Tu proudly partners with Techlit Africa and currently operates eight computer labs, bringing digital education to underserved schools across Kenya.
The trip also included time for exploration and fun. In Naivasha, our sponsors enjoyed a scenic boat ride on Lake Naivasha followed by a visit to Crescent Island, where they got up close with wildlife. In Nairobi, they went on a thrilling safari at Nairobi National Park, courtesy of our tour partner, Priority Wild Safari—a perfect blend of adventure and cultural immersion.

One of the most meaningful days was our university student meeting, bringing together all 110 university students in our program. It was a day of connection, learning, and celebration. We hosted empowering boys’ and girls’ talks, shared a delicious lunch prepared by our hospitality students led by Emmanuel, and ended the day with a joyful dance party.
Throughout the trip, sponsors shared how impactful it was to meet their students in person, witness their growth, and understand the true value of their sponsorship. The connections made and memories shared were unforgettable.
This trip reminded us that education is more than just school—it’s about relationships, support, and shared journeys. Thank you to all the sponsors who made this trip extraordinary. We look forward to more life-changing adventures together!
