Meet Evans

Evans understands the value of education. This, he says, is what drives him to work so hard in school. He recently took the Kenyan Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams and passed with flying colors, earning an outstanding B+ average. These results have all but guaranteed him a spot at a good Kenyan high school.

Even while preparing to take the KCPEs, Evans knew that his parents would not be able to afford his high school fees. His family subsists off his father’s income as a gardener. In addition to the steep tuition fees, high school also comes with additional costs such as textbooks, stationeries, uniforms and transportation, which can be overwhelming for families from impoverished backgrounds. This is the situation Evans has found himself in.

However, Evans has always aspired to lift his family out of the poverty that has afflicted them for years, and he knows that finishing his education is the best way to do so. Evans, the first-born in his family, picked up leadership qualities quite early in life. At school, he has been elected class prefect several times. He loves science and enjoys tutoring his classmates in the subject when they need help.

Evans has shown us that with the right support system, he has what it takes to bring positive change to his family and community at large. Help Evans move closer to his dreams by sponsoring him today.

Sponsoring a secondary student is $1,020 a year, or $85 per month. This amount covers the students' tuition fees, and buys school supplies, uniforms, shoes, and other personal effects required to live at boarding school.
