Esther is a class six student at Olchoro Nyori Primary school. She recently finished the first term of the 2019 school year and is now on holiday. She is looking forward to spending her holiday playing with her friends at Sons of Manaseh Children’s Home. Here’s what Esther told us about her life at school and the future she is working towards…
“I love going to school. We are learning about six subjects; social studies and Religious education, Kiswahili, mathematics, English and science. My favorite subjects are Science and mathematics. I thank my teachers for the wonderful work they are doing and for helping me to learn more about the world around me.
When I grow up, I would like to become a doctor. I know that becoming a doctor will not be easy, but I am ready for the challenge. When I am not at school, I spend my time with the other kids at Sons of Manaseh. We all have chores that help the home run smoothly. I help with washing dishes after meals and looking after the smaller children. When I have free time, I love to play with my friends. We skip rope, play hide and seek, and make beaded jewelry together.
I am looking forward to finishing my primary school studies in the next couple of years and taking the next step in my education. I’m so excited to move on to high school soon, and even more excited to go to a good university someday like the other girls in Moja Tu. I would like to thank my sponsor Kristi for always writing to me and sending me gifts. I am so grateful to know that she cares about me and wants me to do well. I would like to thank the entire Moja Tu organization and my sponsor for the wonderful work they are doing in our lives.”
